Has it really been three months already??!
Our little R2D2 (or Little Roar, as I've been calling him) is a happy little guy full of smiles and coos and is already rolling!!

And talking - he has so much to tell us!

He has been such an easy-to-care-for baby but I don't think I could have made it through a day without his Burrito Blanket, the lounger, and Lusa Organic's Booty Balm - pretty much in that order!

We are all so in love with our little bundle. My favorite part about our growing family is how much his big brother cares for him. He's always so sweet with him! He's constantly giving him loves and playing with him. And, he's been calling him Brother - so cute! I just love them!

I can't believe we're already half way through January!! Hope you've had a great start to the New Year!
Things have slowed down quite a bit here... <3

We have been busy enjoying our baby R2D2. We are all head-over-heals for our new little guy! He's just so sweet and snugly. And, I have to say how proud I am of his big brother for how patient and loving he is towards him.

My lovely sister in law took so many wonderful pictures for us! You should really check out her work. Her photography is simply beautiful! This one was our Christmas card.

The first time Big Brother held Little Brother... This has to be my favorite picture ever!

He had been waiting impatiently for weeks for the little guy to arrive and

you can just see how truly excited he is! I just LOVE it!!

As for Little Dandelion Studios, things have taken a bit of a backseat, of course, but I've got a few things to show you! The Valentine's Day Craftacular is fast approaching and I've been having so much fun creating themed goodies. Especially since doilies and Valentine's Day go hand-in-hand - you all know how much I've fallen in love with doilies.

This is one of the doily bowls from the collection I'm growing.

It happens to be filled with yarn that has become something lovely and sweet for Valentine's Day.

I'm also working on some more of these beauties.

These and the rest of the collection I had at the holiday shows sold out but I was lucky to come across some more of those beautiful metal hoops so there are more in the works.

I'm also working on a new twist for my boho necklaces something special for the upcoming holiday... Can't wait to show you! I'll get more pics of the my Valentine's Day goodies up on our Facebook page soon.

My favorite part of holiday preparations is decorating the tree with my son! He gets so excited and when he was two we started a little tradition of making ornaments. So far, we've made salt dough hearts and glittery snowflakes.

We put our tree up today and tomorrow we'll start our new ornaments. This year, we're planning to get messy with decoupage and glitter!

Giving Thanks

Like most everyone this time of year, my family and I have been thinking a lot about what we are thankful for. This year we've decided to take it a step further and start a tradition of GIVING thanks by donating to charities that reflect what we are most thankful for.

My son said he is thankful to have toys to play with so, he will be donating to Toys for Tots.

My husband and I are thankful for the practical things that we all take for granted everyday, like, having clean running water, a warm, comfortable home, etc. so, we are looking for a charity that brings clean water to people that need it. We are also going take the pile of blankets we haven't used in years to a shelter or pass them out to people that need them in Madison.

Of course, our little family will always top my list. Especially the healthy arrival of our newest addition, R2D2, who decided to make his entrance a month early! Big brother couldn't be happier!

Holiday shows are just around the corner!!

This is a sneak peak at some of our handmade lovlies that are not in our Etsy shop just yet.

Let's just say time has not been on my side lately and

I'd rather be creating than listing right now!

The larger ones are coming by Spring - that is if I have any left!

What we've been up to...

Well, as I mentioned in my previous post, things have been hectic, to say the least, around here!

At least there's been progress...

And, in the DIY Upcycled spirit of Green Cricket's project, I thought I'd stop by and share some of my nesting progress - my refinished dining room chairs.

Even though they were probably the biggest pain ever, I absolutely adore them!

That said, never again!

This is what they looked like to start....

It was definitely worth it - we had three of them and the other 2 only cost $5 each! - but I'm terrible at painting... soooo, each chair took forever!

I still need 3 more chairs... and, hopefully, a way out of painting at least 2 of them! lol

I am happy I tried it and love the way they turned out. They are perfect!

Now, I just need to finish the room. I still, after nearly two years, need curtains and a new light fixture and the built-ins need to be painted (which, I, obviously, don't want to think about! lol)...

We're having a....

BOY!!!

Instead of finding out during the ultrasound, we decided to wait a whole ten days longer to be surprised with our family with a "reveal cake"! So, we gathered all baby's Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins around this stunning cake from Amanda Cupcake...

and opened it to reveal all these yummy, beautiful blue layers!

Isn't it gorgeous?!! mmmmmm..... (I wish I had some now!)

The extra wait was definitely worth it.

We had so much fun finding out what "little R2D2" would be with a beautiful cake and being able to share that with everyone.

After the big reveal, my amazing sister-in-law, of Life Tree Photography,

took us to this beautiful sunflower field for some family pictures.

It was an absolutely perfect day!!

Feather the Nest :: DOILIES!

Do you remember, a few months ago, I confessed my love of doilies?
Well, I sneaked in a project into the chaos of Summer and can't wait to hear what you think!

Vintage metal needlework hoops with the perfect amount of tarnish + lovely thrifted doilies = oh-so-pretty wall art.

I haven't decided which room these little beauties will end up in but I'm also considering covering a couple of round pillows with a few of the larger ones I've collected. Yes, I've actually managed to collect something and the quantity I've amassed was a little surprising at first... No, I will admit you how many but it got to the point that I just couldn't pass them up! In my defense, I was planning to repurpose some for some goodies for you all too. Though, time will tell if I can part with any....

What We're Up To

This past weekend was the start to our Summer shows in New Glarus. Although it was a quiet show, we still had fun meeting everyone there and enjoyed the extra time to chat with our booth neighbors and the weather was absolute perfection!

I also got to try out the new Pretty Clip displays I've been working on. LOVE them but I think I may need to hinge them for a table top display instead. The picture is pretty bad, sorry.

I'm addicted to making the new Bohemian Necklaces! I was surprised at how many I was able to prepare and finish this week! I really love the way the multi-strand version looks, now if I could just decide what color to make for myself... Stay tuned for more new styles!

Now, I'm off for a fun-filled 4th of July weekend with my family and in between that and the daily to-do's, I'll be crocheting my heart out! I'm working on everything at once - booties, headbands and posie clips, necklaces, and market bags - still trying to catch up from the sleepy first trimester!

Speaking of baby, we get to find out if we're having a boy or girl next month!!! So exciting! We're thinking of having one of those cake parties with our family. Where you have the bakery secretly make you a pink or blue cake. Then when you cut into it, you find out girl or boy. It sounds like a fun way to find out!

What we've been up to...

We've got some big news to share here! My little family is growing! Although my son has already decided he's getting a little brother, we'll be welcoming a new little bundle just before Christmas!!! So, I've mostly been exhausted since my last post, but that seems to have passed for the most part and not a moment too soon! I am so far behind on everything - creating, house projects, ummm... maybe cleaning... It'll all be worth it though!

On the shop side of things, a couple of our bags as well as a Little Dandelion Studios how-to are going to be included in the Fall edition of Haute Handbags!! SO nervous and excited for our first magazine article!!

Now that I've been getting my energy back, I'm trying to focus on getting ready for all the Summer shows coming up! We'll have new lovlies that haven't made it to our on-line shop quite yet, like, the market bags, and we just might have some great deals on things we're clearing out. Hope you can stop by and say hi!!

I should be Spring cleaning but.... : )

It has been crazy busy around here the last few weeks!
This week, I took a little "vacation" from work to try to get a head start on preparing for Summer shows while my son is in school... lets just say I got many, many Pretty Clips done and have started a few new things. Like, these new lovlies for the ladies! They are brand new and I'm still working on a few other designs. These will be making an appearance in the shop very soon.

I've also been crocheting up a storm working on Market Totes, custom baby gifts, and a giveaway surprise for you guys!

Mom delivered lots of Easter baskets, too! I was thrilled for her that one was chosen over Pottery Barn's selection! This is my favorite. : ) (We've also got plenty of Pretty Clips, a perfect little gift for an Easter basket!!)

Let's see, what else... : ) We started planning our garden and planted a lots of tomato seeds - the kidlet LOVES cherry tomatoes! I can't wait to see him pluck them out of the garden. Then, we started plans for our new front porch and back patio and balcony more on that another time!! Soooo excited for it and all the other changes that will *hopefully* be happening this Summer!!

Aside from gardening and crafting, the kidlet and I made some magnets and salt dough, went to the park with Daddy and played school. I love that he loves learning. He's always asking questions and wanting books to find the answers. His newest request was for a book about storms after our first thunderstorm. Anyone have a good book suggestion? I think it's adorable and I hope he always loves books - just like his daddy! : )

Oh!! AND, I found some treasures in garage rafters that my husband was nice enough to dig out. I hate ladders! As soon as it's a little bit warmer, I plan to build some new displays with and I just might have some extras to share!

Feathering The Nest :: Sneak peak into the Sunroom

Hey everyone! I've got a little decision situation over here and am hoping you all can help!
So, I've started a new project for our sunroom and can't decide how to finish it....

My inspiration for this room is this sunny bowl of lemons : )

The not-quite-finished project: An over-sized coffee table made with reclaimed materials that I am in love with! The legs were rescued from the trash and the top is the old swing door from our kitchen that we found neglected in the garage. The tops of the legs were a little damaged so, I just need to put a skirt on the table to hide the ugly and paint it! Can't wait to have it done!

So, I've toned my colors down a bit. Here's my nifty plan:

* That gorgeous yellow fabric (from Fabric House) will either become LOTS of pillows or a cusion cover for a built-in window bench I' about to start working on... I'm leaning towards pillows.
* The bright green will be snuck in in small doses - mostly plants that can hopefully survive my neglect... I'm a plant killer... we'll see how that plan plays out, won't we! haha

* The teal is for the furniture (...I think...) but... high gloss or shabby chic??!

This is the wood paneling and a couple of other pieces that my family gifted to us that need some refinishing love. Not only is the paneling my least favorite color of wood but the room is surrounded in it... Even though three of the four walls are mostly windows, it's still pretty overwhelming. But is cream paint the answer??

Feather the Nest :: Paint!

As most of you know, we bought our first home last Spring and I decided to stick to my handmade pledge to feather our nest. For the last several months, I've been sharing bits of crafty projects, vintage and thrifty goodness, salvaged beauties, and handcrafted lovlies on our Facebook Page but from now on, you'll find everything over here. As I finish rooms, I'll share the before and after and along the way, I'll share all the little (and not-so-little) projects and finds!

On to the paint! Last weekend, Mom and I may have gotten a little carried away painting. In about a day, we painted the ceilings through most of the house, the entry and hall, made a paint run, and painted the dining room!

So here's a quick peak at the colors:

The color is Stony Path from Menard's Grand Distinction Nature Collection.
It really isn't as gray as it looks here...

A peek into the dining room from the living room.
A sweet yellow called Lemon Balm from Dutch Boy.
The chairs, curtains, and the back of the built-ins will be teal.

So, there you have it. Aside from stepping in paint and trailing it around the wood floors, this time was so much better than the last time I decided to paint! The doors and trim still need to be painted. They will be the same color as the ceiling (which, was Mayflower from Grand Distinction) As soon as I have the kidlet out of the house for a weekend....

He really was doing a great job of being careful aside from this - he doesn't like to be messy.

I'm so excited to be starting some bigger projects very soon! (A DIY bathroom re-do, a window bench and shelf and a coffee table project!!) I can not wait for this adventure to unfold and to share it! It could get pretty entertaining, too - have I mentioned I seem to have an I-Love-Lucy way about doing things?? You'll see... : )

Oh, almost forgot - The kidlet wanted to show you all the picture of the little mouse he found scurrying about. It's Shiny Kitty's friend, Mousy.
I love that kid!!

What we're up to

One of the new projects I have been brainstorming and working out the kinks on are Market Bags - so much fun! All of the bags are my own twist based on a Lion Brand pattern. So far, they all have the same rounded shape with a slit handle.

The first bag and the yarn basket that our Shiny Kitty liked so much.
He doesn't normally bother my yarn...

This is the brown bag with a different style flower that I've been playing around with - LOVE these little flowers on e v e r y t h i n g! Pillows, hats, sweaters... bags... : ) Pretty sure these little lovlies are going to find their way to the pillows I'm going to sew when we get our new sofa.

It's a little too Fall for me right now though (bad case of Spring Fever) but still super pretty! These flowers need a robins egg blue bag, don't you think?!

And last, my favorite, the pocket bag! I saw a pattern on a hemp knitting site but didn't like the pattern for the pocket. SO, I used part of a pattern from a blanket my mom was working on and it is perfect - well, almost. I need to use a different stitch pattern for the bag to cut out some of the bulk as it was a teensy bit of a challenge to get it all stuffed into the pocket.

All of the bags hold quite a lot - the one above is holding all the yarn from the large storage basket in the first picture and still had tons of room to stretch! I can't wait to take them shopping and see how they do!

I've finally decided to join the blogging world and will kick it off with a Valentine's Day giveaway! Hooooraay!

At last summer's Craftacular, this copy of Sommerset Life was included in their famous goody bags. Inside, were several treasures from Becky Shander that I simply adored - among them, these Vintage Tart Tin Pin Keeps! (Aren't they darling??!) I decided that I wanted to make one for myself but while thrift shopping, I came across about thirty sweet little tart tins and then piles of doilies that needed to be rescued! How could I pass them up? (Doilies have been a serious crush of mine for a little while now but more on my crush another time - promise!). I was thrilled and on the way home started thinking of all the possibilities and ended with this:

I'm not sure that the tart tins I found are vintage, but most of the buttons are and everything is reclaimed!

I now have my very own set (I couldn't choose just one!) and some were given away as gifts but there were still a few left... So, I worked up the nerve to email Becky to ask her if I could share her idea with you all and have a giveaway, thankfully, she graciously agreed, and here we are.
These will also be available at an upcoming Gallery Walk on February 5th where I will be hanging out with one of my favorite crafty ladies at her shop, dainty daisies, in Oshkosh. (So excited!!)
